- For those who are actually interested, the site has not been abandoned. In fact, the rebuild is finally underway again, and this time it's not stopping until it's done. Once that time comes, you'll start noticing some changes, both major and minor, in the way things look and work. The stuff that's currently here isn't going away (well, a few bits and pieces of it are, but not enough to really notice), and there will be a bit of an adaptation to the new setup as the back-end code won't just be kludged together with spit, bubblegum, and a lot of hope. Years in the making (and promising) and there's finally a light at the end of the tunnel.

- I feel I must explain the long delay between content updates at this point. Oh, the usual school, finding work, and other such excuses were still in effect, but that would have only explained a few weeks at a time.... No, this time it was something else.
One of the fanfic authors that I listed decided that he didn't like the idea that anyone would dare type the string of characters that he used as a pen-name, as a reference to him and his work, and outright claimed that the existence of his pen-name on this site was illegal without his explicit consent. After a bit of research, I punched so many holes in his claims that nearly every statement he had made was proven false. He claimed that plagiarism was committed, which it was not. He claimed that what was done was a federal offense, which it wasn't, nor was it even illegal on a local level. When confronted with this information he re-worded his statement a bit, claimed that he had verified his claims with several other lawyers and a couple of judges, as being prepared to sic his lawyer on me to have this site shut down and have me jailed and fined if I did not comply with his implied demand that I remove any and all references to his work from the site. He also added that he'd already had such actions taken with the owners of other websites and that I should do more research before contradicting him or I would share their fate.
Who is this author? Well, I don't think I want to come right out and write it here, but in the interests of my belief in the freedom of information, it becomes readily apparent in the link found somewhere within this paragraph. I will make it known now, just in case it wasn't obvious, that his listings were removed from the production database if for no other reason than to try my hand at being a nice guy, and not out of any fear of legal action.
The only reason it actually took so long was that I was debating on how to deal with this situation, and whether or not to deal with such situations in the future.... I have concluded that, since an agreement was reached in this instance, that the agreement would be honored, but further issues will require proper justification for the removal of information from this site as I see it as a form of censorship.

- Okay, it's been a while since I had any news, and you know what? I'm not sorry, so there :P
If you've been wondering what I've been up to, well... I've been working hard to finish my bachelor's degree by the end of the spring semester. That, and a four-year-old runing around and requiring attention and such, well, I've had little time to actually finish re-coding the site. That being said, I've still got plans to do so, but it's a bit slower in coming than I had planned... that, and there's nothing less relaxing than taking a break from the programming theory and practice necessary to pass my senior classes with decent grades by doing more coding in a different language than I'm working with in school, so the re-code will likely commence as soon as I've been out of school for a few weeks and can think about some nice, relaxing web-coding... until then, I'll just be doing some nice, relaxing fanfic reading instead... that's what this site is all about, after all. :D

- HAH! I finally found the bug in my update code that would simply ignore any entry with a double-hyphen ("--") in it! That "feature" was intended to weed out comments in the SQL code.... but it was a bit too vague in its implementation, this resulted in the "loss" of an author, 14 stories, 3 chapters, and 11 reviews... not a whole lot, I know, but none of the "lost" things had anything to do with each other (well.... 2 of the chapters were for the same story), but still, that's quite a few entries gone missing, and it took a specialized program running a full-on entry-by-entry database comparison to figure out and troubleshoot.... The app only took about 30 minutes to build and run, the rest took several hours of searching for "--" in any search engine that would acknowledge such a string might be the actual target element of a search (... and after all that time I'm still hitting engines that either think I'm looking for "anything without a hyphen in it", or they simply ignore the string outright) before I realized where the problem really was. Anyway, enjoy being able to access those "new" entries, I'm off to bed.

- Ug.... Sorry for the extremely long delay in updating anything. My school schedule kinda prevented enough free time to do my homework, help manage my household (which includes keeping my wife happy ;) ), eat, sleep, and keep up with the site maintenance.... again, sorry, but it couldn't be helped. New updates today, and work on the new site code will begin, once again, and continue through the summer. I can't promise anything about the fall semester, but I'll do my best to keep updating at least once a week, and hopefully make it possible for you, my visitors, to add your own content.... maybe... once I figure out a good way to do it... I hope...
Anyway, happy reading ^_^;
